Northern Alberta Curling Association

NACA FUNDING

Bantam Bonspiels (14 years and under)

OBJECTIVE

To develop and encourage bantam curlers (aged 14 years of age and younger) by assisting affiliated curling clubs to develop a bantam bonspiel with financial and administrative support.

The feeder system concept is expected to provide the U18 and junior programs with better trained and experienced curlers, as well as to give skipping strategy experience to an age group which likely would not occur under regular U18 and junior curling programs.

TARGET GROUP

The main target groups are those curling clubs with little to no bantam curling programs.

PROGRAM

The Northern Alberta Curling Association will offer advise and/or contact people who have developed similar programs offering a one-time financial incentive program to curling clubs who wish to establish a bantam bonspiel, as a one-time incentive.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

A subsidy of $50.00 a team will be paid to an affiliated curling club that establishes a "Bantam" bonspiel (maximum of 1 bonspiel per year/per club).

To qualify there must be a minimum of 8 teams (subject to number of clubs applying and funding limitations).

The funding will be provided after the bonspiel when team rosters (with birth dates) are supplied to the NACA office.

Only clubs affiliated with and in good standing with the NACA will be offered this incentive.

Funding is available on a first come basis.

PROCEDURE

Notify the NACA office by providing:

  • Bonspiel date
  • Bonspiel coordinators name
  • Realistic number of teams expected
  • General information on bantam, juvenile or junior programs currently offered by your club

An NACA representative will contact the curling club representative with the information required to finalize the funding grant.
